This year, the Detroit Greek Independence Day Committee and the Hellenic Heritage Awards Committee has recognized nine individuals who have achieved exemplary results in promoting Orthodoxy, Hellenic Civilization and Hellenic Culture. Special recognition is also given to one individual by the Hellenic Museum of Michigan. These are distinguished members of the Hellenic community, who have laid the foundation and continue to be pillars of our culture. They represent the rich history of those who immigrated and assimilated into our Greek-American society.

Photographers Evans and Maria Koukios used six cameras for this special photo and video project that documents the complete awards ceremony along with the music performed by Aegean Roots. The one hour video includes the awards ceremony, the award winners and guests, the program booklet, and a slideshow of banquet guests to music of the evening performed by the Aegean Roots.
